This enclosure was found, still screwed to a wall after a severe dairy shed fire. Not only was the enclosure still structurally sound, it was still waterproof and had protected the internal components much better than expected. This illustrates another important advantage over stainless steel, which can buckle under extreme heat causing the seals to be compromised.
Although this enclosure may look like an industrial-style campfire marshmallow now, but it did the job it was asked to!

The Thermoplastic Polycarbonate composition of this enclosure meant it would eventually melt but wouldn't sustain a flame. For more industrial plastic insights, click the button below.
