The workshop at emf is equipped with a wide variety of machinery and tools, so that we can make and put together the right pieces of the puzzle. Parts of the puzzle can come in the form of custom busbars, clever shielding, or nifty mounting brackets.
We are constantly considering every part and piece, and how everything works together for the end result. By doing so, we can provide our customers with the most reliable switchboards.

Masking Panels
Routered Masking Panels:
- 2mm White PVC
- Only cut out the circuit breakers you need.
- No more pole fillers to fall out.
- Cut out with a sharp knife.
- Smooth, shiny PVC that stays clean! (not expanded foam)
- Fire resistant - does not sustain a flame.
- Spare cut-outs for controls or RCDs on Main Switch rail.
LC and W series switchboard masking panels are made from punched 1.2mm zinc plated steel and powdercoated white.
Gland Plates
All S Series switchboards and custom switchboards come with 4mm grey PVC gland plates top and bottom unless stated.
- Aluminium - 3mm thick.
- Grey PVC - 4.5mm thick.
These allow for:
- Easy addition of extra cables.
- No swarf from cutting through metal cabinets.
- No sharp edges.
- No eddy currents.
- No more risky acrobatics on the end of an electric drill with a large hole saw.
- Keeps switchboard dust and rodent free
Double Hinged Gear Trays
Double hinged insulated gear trays for S Series. These are our standard go-to gear tray for metering cabinets. Routered from sturdy 10mm signex, and come with wing nuts to secure the gear tray once installation is complete.
These allow for:
- Cable access up the back of the cabinet.
- Ease of opening.
- Hides cabling.
- Acts as a cable duct.
- Option to router cable holes.
- Option to use PVC.
Formica Geartrays
Formica, or Typanel as it's sometimes called, is an insulated material that works well as a metal substitute gear tray. So well, in fact, that it's been mistaken as the old asbestos fuse panel it replaced. We use a 3 Axis CNC router to cut out our sheet products to your specifications.
Black Formica sizes:
- 4mm
- 6mm
- 10mm

Retro-fit Kits
Need to upgrade the internals, but want to keep the existing cabinet? This system is custom made from a series of rails, brackets, distribution and breakers, or whatever you need to fit directly into your switchboard. Please contact us for more information.
Switchboard Labelling
Engraved Labels
Switchboard labels engraved on 1.6mm thick plastic. Options for double sided tape, mounting holes, or both.
Common Colors:
- Black with White text
- White with Black text
- Red with white text
- White with Red text
- Green with white text
- Brushed silver with black text
Other thicknesses and color ways are available.

Stainless Etching
Stainless etching onto standard or free-issued stainless tags.
Tags in stock:
- 89 x 9mm cable labels
- 100 x 20mm with mounting holes
- 100 x 30mm with mounting holes

Plotter/Cable Labels
Cable labels with the option to include cable sleeves.

If you have a list of labels, please send them through in an excel spreadsheet. Preferably, please just use one column to make it easy to import.
