The Electric Post

March 2021

1 in 10 Kiwis brush their teeth once a week or less!

According to data released by Colgate last month around 10% of New Zealanders will go a whole week without brushing, but we guarantee they clean and monitor their switchboards even less.

Tucked away and undermaintained, old switchboards are the cause of a lot of fires throughout New Zealand.
We have all seen switchboards that look like the one above, with typical asbestos panel, bakelite isolator, and a hodgepodge of fuses, MCBs, and RCDs from every era of electrical equipment.

And, another random fact: Switchboards are kinda like teeth, you don't really notice them when they are working fine but when something goes wrong, you wish you had paid a bit more attention earlier!

Domestic Switchboard Upgrade:
680 x 510 x 10mm Formica Panel

There is a lot more electrical stuff in our houses now, which means more hot points are needed. More hot points means more circuits. More circuits means RCDs. So, how do you add RCDs and smart meters to existing Asbestos panel switchboards?

A cut-to-size Typanel/Formica Plate that fits exactly in the spot of the existing panel with cut-outs for Revenue meters, an isolator, and a recessed domestic switchboard.

Perfect for house rewires or switchboard upgrades in older houses.
