Pump Control Board

An industrial electrician needed a new pump control system for a client who is pumping water from a well into a holding tank and then pumping out of the tank. The control station had to be located outside in an easily accessible area so it could be operated by staff at any time. Both pumps needed to be run through Schneider GV2 motor circuit breakers and contactors controlled via three probes. The client also wanted a single-phase outdoor power outlet for standard yard use.
The Solution:
We used an IDE Star enclosure, because of its durable, UV stable construction, to create a compact, wall mount, cost-effective solution. The tinted door allows access to the GV2s and RCBOs whilst protecting any live parts in the space beneath. The use of tinted polycarbonate also reduces UV light damage to the internal components. With an impact resistance of IK08, the enclosure will last the distance and withstand years of constant use and exposure to the elements.
We added an extra dinrail in the lower half of the enclosure to mount two Schneider LC1D09 contactors on, which were wired out to push-button controls on the face of the enclosure, via the level control probes. The pushbuttons are labelled using a customised laser engraved plate to maintain the IP65 rating and prevent the labelling fading or falling off in the future.
emf has templates for PDL 56 Series mounting points and can provide enclosures with CNC cut-outs for single and double units, so it was simple to add a 15A, 56 Series Outlet to the face of the enclosure.

UV Stable polycarbonate with a tinted door provides long term durability and UV protection for internal components. The enclosure will not become as brittle over time, as other materials such as ABS and Fibreglass, even in direct sunlight.

The IK08 impact resistance will prevent stone chips and cracks to the casing even in a busy industrial yard. (Obviously won’t resist a direct hit from a reversing truck though!)
