Scafit, a lower north island scaffolding company had purchased a new building in Palmerston North where power was fed from an old rusted out tin meter panel. This needed to be upgraded from HRC fuses to MCBs and smart metering. The existing panel was mounted on a galvanized stand with steel conduits running to the buildings. The existing cables were only going to be just long enough so the electrician wanted space in the bottom of the switchboard to join the submain cables. The switchboard is located in a corner of a scaffolding storage yard so needed to be weather resistant and strong.
The Solution:
We used Cubo P in this project as it gave us the flexibility to match the existing mounting points and conduit entry points. As a fully customizable and joinable switchboard system, it was easy to put together the main switchboard with room for terminating cables and future-proofing. Cubo P is a completely Polycarbonate system and this enclosure has now been in the field for over 2 years with no visible signs of breaking down from UV exposure. Using polycarbonate also gives a high impact rating (IK08) which is ideal for a yard environment.
